Our story continues as we receive what God did for us. Listen:
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” 1Jn 3:1 NIV
God has loved the world. It is already done. He created it all. He has sacrificed it all. And He desires to live in us all. Will we receive this gift? It is not a miserly love that God offers. He does not give us a tiny taste of His Love. He lavishes His Love on us. Lavishes. Oh how I love that word! Do you remember that TV show “Extreme Makeover Home Edition”? These folks did not only go to someone’s house and repair some leaks and cracks. They did not only rip out the dead trees and design a new, pretty landscape. They demolished the entire house, then from scratch, they built an extravagant, generous, unobstructed, beautiful home that would fill all the family’s needs, and then some. My Friends, this is what the great Love of God lavishes upon us too!
God is not looking to just heal some leaks and cracks in our life. He does not want to just make us look pretty on the outside. He wants to demolish our old identity, and beginning from scratch, make us into the extravagant, generous, unobstructed, beautiful people we were always meant to be. God lavishes His great Love on us. And He does this by killing the death inside us. He does not add Life to us. No, He transforms us from death to Life. We are completely New Creations, not just a patched up version of our old self.
I remember a very long time ago, when the Lord said to me, “Child, you are a very intelligent woman. You know a lot, about a lot of things. Now take everything you know and throw it out. We are going to start all over again.” God demolished me… let God demolish you too, because what He is building is beyond compare!
