Take Up Your Positions

Sometimes only God can bring about the victory, here’s this week’s awesome verse:

“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.’” 2Chron 20:17 NIV

There was a time in Beckie’s journey where she had a massive brain hemorrhage. How massive? The MRI scans the doctors brought to me showed that, within her skull, it seemed like her whole brain had squeezed to one side and the other side was only blood. They quickly told me that Beckie was going to die at any moment. “She has fought her last battle,” they sadly told me. That there was no way she would be able to survive this latest crisis. Yet I sensed in my heart that God was telling me that Beckie would indeed live through this. So before I could even stop myself, I told the doctors that she would be fine…listen, I realize how crazy that sounded! All these professionals were telling me one thing, but all I had was one word from God and I continued to take my position.

My Friends, Faith is our position. But Faith in God and whatever it is He does or allows…not faith in our own desires or understanding. As we grow in Christ, we learn to discern His Voice, and must hold on to it, no matter what anyone else says. Again I caution us here! We have to know it is our Lord speaking to our heart and not just our own wishful thinking. Discernment is key, and the more we grow, the more we read, study and apply the Bible to our lives, the more we are able to distinguish the Voice of the Holy Spirit within, versus those three enemies we talked about last week. And in this particular instance with Beckie, I knew what I knew, period. I took my position and would not sway from it. We will continue tomorrow…
