The Major Difference

Here we go, let’s say it by heart today, and rejoice:

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Rev 21:4 NIV

The Land of No Mores. Here is that story I promised. So a man dies and is shown two doors. He opens the first one and sees a lush table with a huge pot in the center filled with a delicious smelling soup. Each person around the table has a long spoon for a hand with which to eat this soup. Even though there is plenty of nourishing soup, every person is skinny, hungry and miserable. As he watches them, he sees how each person is trying to dip their spoon-hand into this pot and then feed themselves, but it is too long and will not reach their own mouths and spills all over. It is a dark, lonely and depressing picture.

Then this man opens the second door. It is the same scenario, with the lush table and huge pot of delicious soup and each person also has a long spoon for a hand, yet in this situation, everyone looks healthy, they’re laughing and enjoying each other’s company. What’s the difference? Instead of trying to feed themselves, each person is dipping their spoon hand into the pot and feeding the person next to them! I hope that story makes the same lasting impression on you that it still does on me!

Everyone feeding the next person. That is one of the reasons why there will be no more pain and suffering. We will be doing what we were created to do, loving one another. God will supply all we could ever need or want, and we will imitate Him by giving it all way to others, who give it all away to us. No one wanting for anything. Everyone well fed and cared for. So no more need for suffering or pain or crying…and since Jesus conquered death for us, no more mourning either. Dream again with me…but then lean on God so you can bring a taste of that goodness down to this very hurting and needy world! Let’s go love on someone today because I know we can do that…
