Free Will. This is a real gift from God and it speaks about what I mentioned yesterday, our consent and cooperation with the Holy Spirit. Freely we choose to consent, to agree that we need God’s help as we surrender our spirit to His. Willingly we choose to cooperate with His Will, as we submit our soul to Him. Then with His help, we freely and willingly choose to obey His guidance and plan for our lives. Remember last week’s talk? This is so important because those who do not know Jesus, are watching us, Church, to see what being a Christian is all about. I often will be honest in telling people that, if you watch me for too long, I am going to disappoint you, because I disappoint myself! I am not the perfect one, nor am I trying to point anyone to me. What I am hoping to do is point others to Christ, the Perfect One. Yet, if we are not open about this reality, this lost world will dismiss, or worse, disrespect God because His children are still such a hot mess!
This is one of the reasons my message always centers around growth. If we who proclaim to know Christ are not growing so we may enjoy this New Life more and more, then why would anyone else want to join us? Why would anyone else want to live for God and His Kingdom? Why would anyone else surrender, submit or obey the Holy Spirit’s leading? You and I my fellow Christians, have a great deal of responsibility here! Yet the Good News is that it does not only lie on our tiny shoulders!
