When this pandemic began, the first verse that jumped out at me, as well as so many other Christ followers, was 2Chronicles 7:14. Everything that has happened this past year PLUS, is a test. God is calling out to HIS people, who are called by HIS Name, to see what we will do. Of course, our Omniscient God already knows what we will decide, but do we, Church?
Are we going to give up and die or are we going to assimilate? These are the two tests that were posed to the Israelites in the Old Testament. While they did not choose to die, holding on to their identity as the Chosen People of God, sadly, when they entered into the Promised Land, the majority of them did assimilate. They became like all the other sinful nations around them. Are we going to do that too, Church? By His Grace, we have not died, but remained a Church, a people who have decided to follow Jesus…but will we now assimilate? Or are we going to stand on God’s Word and not “ok” that which God CLEARLY says is a sin? Again, everyone has the Freedom to choose their own way…but Church, will we be able to continue to choose THE Way, THE Truth, and THE Life? (Jn 14:6)
This whole COVID pandemic has been about taking our freedoms away, and he, THE real Enemy, has been very talented in doing this. Are we going to let him continue OR are we going to rise up and let our voices be heard? It’s our choice…let’s hope we can continue to have the Freedom to make that choice….help me spread the news…
