The reason God commands us to follow His Commands is because He loves us! He wants what is best for us and, because of His Eternal viewpoint, only He knows what is best. He is NOT trying to withhold anything good FROM us, but trying to GIVE us the fulfilling life He designed us to have, enjoy and share. What went wrong in the Garden of Eden was that Adam and Eve thought they knew better than God. They allowed the seeds of doubt from the Serpent to enter their hearts and, they distrusted God and went their own way. We have all been doing the same exact thing since then…as we GROW in Christ, allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us into His Image, we will understand this major divide and narrow the gap more and more.
