“For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.” Jas 2:26 ESV
Faith should automatically translate into good works…again, I say it “should.” But if we do not know we should be growing in Christ in order to display this New Creation Life we have on the inside of us, are we doing good works? Again, good works reflect the character of God, and this includes His heart too. Sometimes the WHY we do something is so much more important, and powerful, than what we are doing. If we are trying to GET something from what we are doing, then we are NOT reflecting God’s heart. God loves, not to GET something, but to GIVE everything. Are we doing this? Not if we are not maturing in Christ.
Jesus is Immaculate. That means He is pure in every single area of His being. His heart, thoughts, emotions, will and actions are all founded in Love for the other person He is interacting with. While we may not be that pure this side of Heaven, since we are children still growing into who we will be, the more we do grow, the more we come closer to being pure like Christ. Then we instinctively love others with no ulterior motives. We simply will want whatever is best for that person. The good works will spill over, out of the depths of our changed hearts, and others will notice the difference. Then our Salvation becomes real, not only to us, but to those around us too. The heart of the matter IS really, and truly, a matter our our heart.
