Because Jesus was born and given to us, because the governing of all life is on His shoulders, we can live forevermore and begin to sense that Abundant Life here too, filled with peace and joy, no matter what is going on. Praise God!
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isa 9:6 NIV
Since we humans are limited in so many ways, like our ability to fully understand everything that is going on, we need a counselor who can help us make good decisions in life. In steps our Wonderful Counselor, Jesus. As our Omniscient God, He knows every detail of very single thing that has, is and will happen. He knows the depths of each human heart and knows fully our true motivations that lie within. He knows the when and how and why of it all…isn’t it wise to seek that kind of guidance BEFORE we make any decision?
The way God thinks is often counterintuitive to the way we humans go about life. God views life from Eternity’s perspective. God makes decisions based on His selfless Love. God’s goal is to bring as many hearts to Him, and thus Heaven, as would be allowed to come. While God desires to save everyone, He well knows not everyone will want to be saved. That would mean laying down our false empire to live for His Eternal Kingdom. That would mean leaving behind our Prideful, MMI, and living for Him and others. That would mean us humbling ourselves, instead of continuing to think we are the lord over our lives… and maybe over the lives of others too? That would mean giving up our lives, but then again, that is all it would take to admit we need this very Wonderful Counselor, so that we can actually have a life worth living. My Friends, true life is not about “me”! But hallelujah it is about this God Who is wise beyond our understanding and loves us more deeply than words can ever express.
