Hi Friends,
As I said several weeks ago, we are fearfully and wonderfully made by a God Who loves us and wants us to be as healthy as humanly possible. It is with our bodies that we interact visibly with the world and people around us…and it is with this body that we can reveal the invisible God to them. If you have sincerely surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, you truly are His temples, listen:
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” 1Co 6:19-20 NIV
Believers are God’s temples. And temples have pillars to keep them up and standing strong. Here is a list of the 7 pillars of physical health:
1- Nutrition
2- Hydration
3- Activity
4- Sleep hygiene
5- Gut health
6- Relaxation
7- Environmental
Research these different areas of health. While I will briefly touch on each of these pillars in the next couple of weeks, I can probably spend more than a month on each of these. But my purpose is to try to stir your desire to do your own research. To encourage you to work with your doctors to get the right tests and help. And to help you to choose to make the right changes that will lead you towards better health. Please DO NOT tell me you have no time to do research! Besides your relationship with God, there is nothing more important in life than your physical health. The more you understand what those verses above say- that you are not your own, that you belong to God: spirit, soul AND body- the more you will desire to honor Him with every part of your being. You have to choose to MAKE time to do research… so put down the phone, FaceBook will be there when you get back, and CHOOSE to make your health a priority. Again, NO GUILT! (Ro 8:1) I am not yelling at anyone here. I’m trying to shake you, and me, to make “life choices,” and doing research about how we can be healthier, is certainly a “life choice” that will reap countless benefits.
Learning is a mind activity. I’ve mentioned before that God gave each of us a mind and He desires us to use it. God is certainly a thinker and planner, and since we were made in His Image, we are to use our minds to do likewise. We are to exercise our minds by learning things we never knew before, like how a low carbohydrate diet might improve your health. And we are to make plans to implement what we learn so that we can, not only feel better, but also be a better representative of our amazing God. (see 2Co 5:20) Never forget, we have a real enemy who wants us to be as mindless as possible. He does NOT want us to discover wholesome ways to improve our bodies. He wants us to just believe whatever we’re told, to stay in line, not rock the boat, and not upset his plan to kill, steal and destroy. (see Jn 10:10) But we are children of the Light. We choose life, not death, more and more. So we must continue to choose to use what God has given us for His glory, our benefit, and hopefully, to be a blessing to others too, and our minds, our intellect, our creativity are certainly ways we can do this. The healthier you get, the more you can share what you’ve learned with others, and encourage them to learn too. Again, think rock dropping into water and rippling out. We cause changes in the lives of others when we choose to MAKE time to make our physical bodies a priority.
7 pillars. Next week, I will briefly talk about nutrition and hydration. Humans cannot live without food and water for very long, but without proper food and hydration, we cannot have a very healthy life for very long. The more things I learn, then implement into my life about these pillars, the more my health improves as does my outlook on life. Do you want that too? Then won’t you join me?
Until we meet again, keep lifting your eyes to God, He’s closer than you think.
<>< Peace, Diane
