Life Choices

Let’s see what God wants for us:

“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live” Dt 30:19 NIV

Here we clearly see that God wants to give humans the freedom to choose. God gives us the options: life and the blessings that come with it, OR death and the curses that are sure to follow! And just in case we do not know which one He really wants us to pick, God says “now choose Life!” And why? So that “you AND your children may live.” (my emphasis) You see, as I said the other day, all our choices are important! Others, especially our children, are watching the decisions we make in life…and their outcomes! We can speak… and speak… and speak to them, but words are only words. Others want to SEE what we mean, not only hear what we say.

So if we talk about the peace that surpasses understanding, but have a complete meltdown when someone cuts us off when we are driving??? See the disconnect? We must continue to grow so what we SAY becomes what we DO more often than not. In the meantime, we have to be real with people. We have to be humbly, and freely and willing I might add, say to them, “Man, I really messed up there. I shouldn’t have reacted like that!” We have to confess that we are still works in progress and that we are not always going to get it right.

But on the other hand, when we do get it right? We can change someone’s life! When my daughter would have one of the many crisis she suffered, and I was at the level of maturity where I could stay at peace? It made an impact! React or respond. Let’s talk more about that tomorrow…but leave a comment below on a time when you got it right…or wrong…and it made a lasting impact. See you tomorrow…
