We are not the only ones going about doing good works! Hear this powerful verse again, and let it deposit into your heart!
“And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.” Ro 8:28 BSB
God works. I could probably spend an hour just on this part of the verse because there is so much goodness here! You see, you and I don’t have to stress out about any of life because it is not you or me who is working here. It is God. Our Omniscient, Loving Creator Who already has planned every single thing that would happen on the face of this planet before creation began, is the One Who is bringing it all to pass. This should be a relief for us! All the days of our lives have been already written in His Book before we even had one single day…that’s my take on Ps 139:16 Why is this such a comfort? Because God has already seen it all and knows exactly HOW to work it all together! One thing you will never hear God say is, “Oh! I didn’t see that coming!” We can rest in Him…if we choose to.
God works, but do we respond or react? Now just because God has planned it all, does not mean He has taken away our Free Will about how we will experience what will happen. No, that’s on us! Having something happen, and how we choose to view what has happened can be as different as night and day! A quick simple example is a flat tire. Some would choose to completely lose their cool and go into an absolute fit because of this. But then again, some would choose to say, “Oh, I don’t like this, but let me fix it and go on my way.” See what I mean? The flat tire was already planned, but our reaction or response? That’s on us! If we choose to stop and trust God, and what this marvelous verse is trying to teach us here, then we will decide to respond more and more and the quality of our lives will show it…and let’s never forget the impact that this can have on others who we have openly confessed to that we are Christians! They need to see what this looks like, and as we share our confidence that we know God is working all things for good…well, more tomorrow…
