So simple, do we mess it up? Listen:
“Then he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’” Lk 23:42 NIV
Such a simple confession. Surely more is required to receive Salvation though, right? But no. We humans complicate everything, but God has made it as simple as possible. If we continue reading this story, we hear Jesus say, “Truly I tell you, when you have been baptized, you will be with me in paradise.” Oh wait, no, that’s not what He says? Sorry, let me try again: “Truly I tell you, after you do some good works, pay alms, fast for a long time, then you will be with me in paradise.” No? That’s not what He says either? Man, sorry. Let me try one last time: “Truly I tell you, once you learn the doctrines of Faith and can recite at least 20 verses by heart, then you will be with me in paradise.” Nope, none of that either? No.
Again, God cannot make this any simpler than He has. Jesus clearly says: “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Today! (my emphasis of Lk 23:43) Now, I am not saying that, if we live on earth well after our Salvation, that we shouldn’t do most, if not all of those, but to BE saved? Nope! Only one thing is required: God’s Grace…huh? Wait about my Faith? Let’s continue tomorrow.
