Choosing Humility over Pride. Admitting that maybe, just maybe, we do not know it all. Learning to submit to God because we trust that He does know it all. Then choosing to obey whatever He puts on our heart, especially when we do not know what the results will be, this is a completely opposite way of living for us humans. Yet the more we are ready to admit the truth about ourselves, the more we will be free to choose this way of life, and the more abundant our lives will get.
So what is the truth about ourselves? Well, the Sermon on the Mount from our Lord is a great place to look for the answer. It starts with what we call the Beatitudes, or as some have said the “attitudes we need to be.” Here is the first one in Matthew 5:3 and it is key to what we have been talking about:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Mt 5:3 NIV
Did you see it? Because until we are ready to accept this truth about ourselves, life will continue to be a struggle. Leave a comment below if you know what it is.
