Blessed When We Admit the Truth

Who doesn’t want to be “blessed,” right?

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Mt 5:3 NIV

Blessed. It means to be “endowed with divine favor and protection.” It speaks of “bringing pleasure or relief as a welcome contrast to what one has previously experienced.” It means to be privileged, fortunate or happy. And it is certainly something our Holy Father desires to pour out upon His children. But how we have access to these blessings is vital for us to understand. It is only as we choose Humility over Pride that we can sense all the blessings of God, and increasingly as we grow in Christ too. And this all starts by accepting the truth about ourselves from this verse.

So what is it? We are “poor in spirit.” See it? If we want the Kingdom of Heaven, then we have to be willing to admit we are poor in spirit. But what does that mean? Leave your comments below, and I will share with you tomorrow what I heard a preacher say a long time ago about it, and it was awesome!
