Praise God that we do not need to want for anything as we trust Him for everything.
Recall we are memorizing the entire Psalm 23 starting this week, so today, let’s add the next verse today…Psalm 23:2
“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.” Ps 23:2 ESV
What a lovely picture of heaven, right? I imagine the rolling hills of somewhere, like Ireland, and running arms stretched out through the green tall grass dancing with the wind in my hairs as I glory in the beauty and majesty of the nature God has created…maybe then a little further, down at the bottom of the hill, I can almost smell the crisp water in a gurgling creek where I can sit and dip my toes in the refreshing stream. Such peace. Such contentment. Such rest. This is the image I get with this verse. But it is not meant to move us to do nothing but lie there. No! There is always something to do as we journey along with our Shepherd!
We are not to rest from activity, but IN the activity. Because we are with our Good Shepherd, we can remain at peace as we follow Him, doing whatever it is he calls us to do. Whether this means giving a stranger a hug, or maybe writing and recording videos to share with friends, like you…whatever it is, we don’t have to stress about it. We can choose to lie down in His arms and receive whatever it is we need to get the task done. It is because we have a loving Shepherd that we can rest as we work, and that my Friends, makes work, not work. Go rest in Him today and I will see you tomorrow…
