We all know that discipline does not feel good, but the fruit it produces will lead to an incredible return on our investment! In Hebrews 12, there are some of my favorite Scriptures that, if I’m honest, makes me cringe a little, because it talks about the reality of God’s Loving discipline. Please make the time today to read Heb 12:1-13, but here is the verse that explains it all: “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” (Heb 12:11) I repeat: “those who have been trained by it”! You really want to live a life filled to the overflow with peace and joy and righteousness? Then allow God to train you to be more and more like Him, as He uses the powerful tool of discipline in your life.
Again this is for our good. If we are not aware the sin causes all sorts of pain in our life, as well as the lives of those around us, why would we change, right? So in order to increase the quality of our lives, our Loving Father will gently hold us in His mighty hands as He works to cleanse us from the sin that keeps us stuck, and living an unfulfilling life. Ours is to learn God’s methods and work with Him, instead of against. As I mentioned the other day, the quicker we get on board with God’s Plan, the quicker that trial will stop, and the more of this Abundant Life we will experience.
