Because The Father loves us, because Jesus died for us, because the Holy Spirit lives in us, we can be pure. Say this one with me by heart today:
“All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.” 1Jn 3:3 NIV
A dirty rag cannot wash a dirty wall. A full cup cannot hold more water. A lame and mute person cannot dance and sing. Because we choose to place our Hope in the saving work of Jesus though, He has cleansed us so we can be clean, and help others come to Jesus so He can clean their life up too. Because we choose to place our Hope in the saving work of Jesus though, He has emptied us of any sin debt so we can live free, and lead others to Jesus so He can empty their cup too. Because we choose to place our Hope in the saving work of Jesus though, we can choose to live a life filled with joyful dance and vibrant song, and point others to Jesus so He can put a pep in their step and a ballad in their words. Are you getting my imagery here?
Because we choose to place our Hope in Jesus, we can live the Abundant Life overflowing with all that is good, and this in the midst of a world that is not always so good. We can choose to look higher, reach farther, live fuller, love wider…we can, if…if we choose to place our Hope in Jesus and work with Him to purify ourselves. Salvation is a one time event, thank God!!! But if we were sincere about the surrender, then placing our Hope in Jesus will be a continual lifestyle of purification…it may not be an easy life, but my goodness, it is certainly a life worth living!
