I am only scratching the surface of what the Holy Spirit does for us. But probably the most important of His roles is to mature us into the likeness of Jesus. The more we allow the Holy Spirit to grow us, the more of His Fruit we are able to access, utilize and display. That means the more we can love, have peace, hold on to joy, be patient, act with kindness, display goodness, continue in faithfulness, stay gentle and live with self-control. That is the Fruit He brings to us when the Holy Spirit unites with our own spirit at Salvation. He brings Eternal Life. He brings this powerful Fruit. And He brings all the gifts we will ever need to have, enjoy and share the Abundant Life.
What He does for us, My Sweet Sisters, we are supposed to do the same for our husbands. This is an honor: to display, in real ways, God’s Love to the man we most love, only second to Jesus. But do we see our role this way? I know for me, the more I grow in Christ, the more I learn what God’s Plan for marriage is, the more I do what He says and the more my own life is filled to the overflow with peace and joy. That’s a whole lot of “more’s” there, my Friends. Who doesn’t want that?
