Attitude of Gratitude

Here’s a statement that is hard to take, but can grant us so much freedom if we really start to grasp it: None of it is ours anyway. We humans get very attached to things, don’t we? We tend to have an ownership mentality instead of our stewardship reality. Everything belongs to God, it’s only by His Grace that we get to enjoy any of it. But do we see it this way?

This is a tough topic, I know all too well. Until recently, I had the wrong mentality that MY home was MINE, and I didn’t want to let it go! We have made so many memories here, especially precious ones of my Baby Girl…but the truth is, if God wants us to move, then I have no right to refuse. I am grateful for this home. I love the warmth and security it has provided, but in the end, it’s not mine. As I learn to live life with opened hands instead of clenched fists, I feel more freedom than ever before. Yes, I will continue to take care of our home. I will continue to enjoy our home. But when the time comes to move on, I will do so with the attitude of gratitude, instead of thinking things are being taken away from me. It is only a humble mentality that will move us closer and closer to being who we were always meant to be, free from Pride and all the selfishness it brings with it. An attitude of gratitude… or ingratitude. This is a financial test.
