Oh how I love the Book of James:
“You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that–and shudder.” Jas 2:19 NIV
So for those of us who have received Jesus as Savior and Lord…oh and by the way, we don’t get to choose. Jesus is BOTH our Savior AND our Lord if you have indeed surrendered to Him. He cannot only be our Savior OR our Lord. He is BOTH. So if we truly have believed what God has already done for us, and are now learning to live with Jesus as the center of our thoughts, words and deeds, then we already know there is one God. Unless you are born again, nothing else I say will mean anything to you or help you in any way. First, we must believe there is only one God who created everything that is seen and unseen. If you are still thinking that this world somehow formed itself, that the planets rotate by clockwork all on their own, that life is just a random selection of atoms and molecules, then this is not for you…but oh how I hope it stirs something within you to begin to believe in the One true God!
“You believe that there is one God. Good!” Now that we believe, life gets good. Why? Because this belief opens us up to a relationship with this one God which will bring along with it all the blessings we were created to have, enjoy and share. The first blessing? The relationship itself! We can now glorify God as our lives begin to point to Him. The more transformation in our lives, the more glory we can bring because there is no way you or I can permanently transform ourselves on our own. Oh sure, there are plenty of people who try to take the credit, but when we believe, we always seek to point others to the Source of this life-enhancing change.
