Blessing Results

It’s a long one, but I have confidence you memorized it already so let’s say it by heart:

“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live” Dt 30:19 NIV

Choosing what “I think, I feel, I want” is a death choice, but choosing to seek God and what He thinks, feels and wants leads to Life. So as I prayed about whether to close this class or not, I knew this was God moving me. And as hard as it was for me, and God bless them, my ladies too, I had to obey. Oh I encouraged them to continue meeting, and thank God, He has raised someone else to lead the group…you see, God never closes a door without opening another one. But I wonder what would have happened if I had refused to obey? To be honest, I am still wondering what will happen now that I did obey!

Part of choosing life, and experiencing the blessings that come with it, is learning to let go of my own plan and trusting God further with the Plan He has for me. Choosing Life over death means deepening our Faith in God. If I continued with that class, “I” already knew what to do…no Faith was needed there. But now that I am waiting for God to open the next door for me? Man, does that mean I have to dig down deeper into Faith…and grow up stronger in my walk with Him. This is what Life choices do, they give us, well, more life! Things that were weighing me down are now being lifted. Ways that I used to think are now being renewed. Emotional patterns I used to have are now being broken. Unhealthy habits I used to want are now being transformed. Choosing God’s Will over our own does that…and the blessings that come, are always well worth the submission of my Free Will.
