If we have our Hope set on Jesus, then we will change so we can become pure like Him.
“All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.” 1Jn 3:3 NIV
So what does it mean to put our Hope in Jesus? First let’s see what Hope means and what it does not mean. Biblical Hope is not wishful thinking. This Hope is not a feeling that comes and goes depending on our circumstances. This Hope is not a desperate clinging to something that may or may not happen. Biblical Hope is a solid, confident foundation that is based on our never-changing God. And because this Hope is based on Him, is the very reason we can be confident, no matter what is going on.
So to put our Hope in Jesus means that we can be confident that what God said will happen, will happen. We must search God’s Word to see the many promises He has set forth, then we can hold on to them with complete assurance. This doesn’t mean we will always get what we want, but it does mean we will walk this journey of purification, or Sanctification as I say, with an increasing level of peace and joy because we have put our Hope in Jesus.
