Faith By Example

Surrender! We talked a little about this last week and here we see the final release of Jesus into the hands of the Father. Listen:

“Then Jesus shouted, ‘Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!’ And with those words he breathed his last.” Lk 23:46 NLT

Most translations have Jesus using the word “commit or commend” My Spirit. I like this version because it reminds us of how we are to “entrust” God with everything and every part of who we are: spirit, soul and body. The Bible encourages us to walk by Faith, not by sight, which just makes sense, right? If I can see something, then I do not have to believe for it, it is right there! But since there will be so much we simply cannot know and understand this side of Heaven, Faith is how we are to live this earthly life. If we are waiting for FACT instead of FAITH, then we will simply not be able to live the truly fulfilling and abundant Life God desires for us. We are not Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent, but Faith tells us that God is, and because Faith also tells us the God Loves us, we can trust Him with it all. See?

Jesus is given us the highest form of example on how to live this life fully, here with His final words. “You can trust the Father with your very spirit, in this life and for the next,” He is saying. So as we continue to live and learn here, we can confidently know we are forgiven. We can look forward to being in Paradise with our Savior. We can experience His love and provision daily. If we sense any anguish or suffering we can turn to Him and receive peace in the midst of it. We can praise Jesus that “It is finished” and we can trust God to bring us from this world to the next, so we may live forever. Jesus did all this for us as He hung on that Cross, died and took away the sin of the world. How do we know He was able to achieve such victory? The Empty Tomb! Say is it me, my Friends: Christ IS risen, He is risen indeed! Have a most blessed Resurrection Sunday!
