Hear again the lovely words of Jesus:
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” Jn 10:10 ESV
It is one thing to have life, but it is a whole other story to have it abundantly. The moment you were conceived in your mother’s womb, you had life. Your cells began to multiply like crazy, forming all the different parts of your body. As we were being weaved together, by God’s Grace, we became conscious of our bodies and started doing things like sucking our thumb, or reacting to our Mom’s voice, or even feeling pain. This miracle occurred before we even took a breath of air! Today let’s spend some time marveling at this life, my Friends.
Once we are birthed, we transition to living in this world. We begin to grow as our parents care for us. We go to school and learn all sorts of things, expanding our minds and intellect. We graduate and get jobs and, well, we have life. But it is not until we encounter Jesus, surrender our temporary lives to Him, that we truly have Life Everlasting. Then as we mature in Christ, this New Life becomes abundant because we learn to go through “come what may” with this precious peace that surpasses understanding. This strength that comes from the Joy of the Lord. And our witness, that is our story becomes more amazing than we could have ever imagined. This is real life and it is truly abundant because it does not end with us…we will finish this up tomorrow.
