Have the Son

A sincerely transformed prayer is proof that we are being transformed within.

“Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1Jn 5:12 NIV

Living a surrendered life to the Will of God is the goal of life. Why? Because He so loves us and knows what is best for us…and being transformed into His Image, is what is best for us. This requires a submissive heart. But here’s the truth, we must learn to submit to His Will with every choice we make, in every area of our lives, and every day until He takes us Home. While we surrender once to receive Salvation, we must surrender daily to live the saved life. We can do this simply because we have the Son.

Again listen to how simple this verse makes it: if you have the Son, you have life. If you don’t have the Son, then you don’t have life. (my paraphrase) You don’t have life for all Eternity, but you also won’t experience the fullness of this life either. There will always be something missing. You will always have that vague feeling that there must be more to life. You will either keep striving to find whatever that “thing” is, or you will just give up, just going through the motions of life, with little to no excitement or sense of purpose.

Ahhh but if we have the Son! Oh how adventurous this life becomes, as we joyfully await the next one. Ok, this doesn’t mean things will be smooth and easy. But as we remember God so loves us, as we hold on to the Son within us, as we trust in His leading, life becomes more and more amazing. The lows of life will still be there, but hopefully, we will already anticipate the good that will come from them, so their potential negative influence over us will become less and less, until they don’t bother us anymore. That’s the plan anyway…I for sure am still not there, but I am looking forward to that day, as I continue to get closer and closer to it, and all because I have the Son!
