One of the things that will definitely add to all sorts of stress in our day is worrying. We need to learn to distinguish between worries and concerns. You see, worrying is you and me trying to control every detail of our lives…as well as the lives of those around us too! We just cannot possibly do that, so worrying adds up, making our day tense and stressful.
Concerns, on the other hand, are the things we need to take care of throughout the day…and we should take care of them or else that’s a whole other problem. Concerns are the things that God wants us to do in our day. That is our part. So we need to learn to distinguish between worries and concerns.
The more we begin to understand the difference between these two, the more we can let go of the worries, trusting God to do what we cannot. Then we can focus our time, our energy, our resources taking care of the concerns, the things we should do throughout the day. A quick thing to do is, as we are thinking about what we must do on that day, stop a moment and ask God: is this something I need to do, or am I trying to do Your part here? This is a great way to get rid of so much stress.
Decreasing our worries will most definitely decrease the stress in our day, which will increase the quality of sleep we have at night. So don’t worry. Do your part. Trust God to do the REST. Then go REST in God’s loving arms and get a good night’s REST. Rest, rest, rest…I hope you’re getting the message…
