Increase In Order to Decrease

Remember, put Jesus first:

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” Jn 3:30 ESV

So deep in our hearts, because our spirit has already been transformed from death to Life, we sincerely WANT to do the right things, but as I said yesterday, we lack the strength to change, because we are still getting this verse backwards. We are trying to do the right thing…no, did you catch that? WE are trying! We still think we must decrease, then Jesus will increase! But again, that is NOT the order here. If we want to act more like Jesus, then it starts by increasing how much we think about Jesus, how much we control our emotions like Jesus, and how much we desire God’s Will over our own like Jesus. We start living this life more and more like Jesus, Who always put the Father first. This New Life is less about trying and more about trusting. Trying is something we do on our own. Trusting is something we do with God, together. This is the only way to start choosing Life instead of death, more and more. Are you getting it?

Here’s a picture that explains what I mean. If I have an empty cup, like the first one there, but I want to get rid of the air that is in it, no amount of trying to shake that air out of the cup is going to work, right? So how do I get rid of the air I do not want? I fill it with water. See the succession of cups here? The more I increase the amount of water, the more I decrease the amount of air. Are you getting it now? Talk this over with God tonight and we will continue working this through tomorrow…
