Loving Persistence

The burdens of life are never on a child’s shoulders, but the Father is the one Who takes responsibility for us.

“for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Php 2:13 NIV

God works with what He is given. Think Prodigal Son here. When this wayward child was far from his Dad, there was really nothing that loving father could do for his son. Yes, I am sure he prayed…and I know the Bible says he looked for his son’s return all the time. Our Holy Father does this same thing for you and me. When we are pushing Him away, He will not force us to be at His side. He will, however, continue to seek us, pursue us, urge us, and even woo us back into His waiting arms. But until that Prodigal turned around …see repent here… and just began to come into his father’s presence, there was nothing for this concerned Dad to do. Ahhh, but the second the father saw his son approaching, he took off running towards him with welcoming arms spread out. Again, this is what our Holy Father does for us too. When we have strayed, He is always looking for us to turn back to Him.

The moment we get ourselves into trouble, even before we repent, God is moving in our situations. While not forcing us, He works in us to want to come back. We are never alone in any part of our lives, none of it, even those times when we are being stubborn, immature and acting like that old rebellious person we used to be. What a relief, right? Let’s thank God today for His loving persistence.
