Working With What Is Given

I say again, God works with what He is given, thankfully we do not even have to give much for Him to be able to do His good work!

“for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Php 2:13 NIV

As I said last week, even our tiny effort is more than enough for God to work in and through us. The first thing He does of course, is to give us the will, the desire to do the good thing He wants us to do. We will begin to think about that “good thing” and we will begin to figure out how to go about doing it. But this is all God working in us, my Friends. You know that really “good idea” you had, where do you really think it came from? If we will stop patting ourselves on our own backs long enough, we will realize God is the source of all good and perfect things. (Jas 1:17) Then in gratitude, maybe we would give God more of us for Him to work with!

God is Sovereign. That means He is in charge of everything and everyone…and He still allows us to make so many choices on our own. That is really being in control! Think about it, God must work around all our choices, those that follow His Holy Will and those that do not. I think it was Dr Charles Stanley who I first heard talk about the “two will’s of God.” You see, God’s Will will be done…but depending on whether we heed His urge to follow Him or not, determines which will we are experiencing.
