As we prepare to let go of 2020 and look forward to 2021, let’s talk this week about different Bible verses that center around this idea of how God makes all things NEW.
Today’s verses: Isaiah 43:18-19
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
As our Creator, God did not only create us, He is continuing to create us as we work with Him to become the person He originally designed us to be. One of the ways we cooperate with His creating power is to let go of “former things,” as the verses above say. When we are not consumed by the things that happened in our past, we can keep our eyes focused on God and what He is currently doing in our lives.
The more we choose to work with our Lord, the more of this newness we will sense. Part of this NEW Way of living is experiencing the Abundant Life, more and more. This NEW Way of living empowers us to fulfill the two most important commandments: to love the Lord our God with all we’ve got and love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
