Nothing Changes & Everything Changes

Last week, I was having a really bad day. As I heard the enemy taunting me, “You can’t do this, it’s too much for you, give up, you can’t do this,” and I began agreeing with him, I started crying and crying out to the Lord, “I can’t do this…” then I heard that still, small voice say, “…alone.” God was reminding me that He was with me and that truth changed the course of my heart and the rest of my day. You and I were never meant to live this life alone. We were always meant to be united with God, our Creator and Father.

As I returned to Him, nothing changed and yet everything changed! As I lifted my eyes to Him, as I remembered that He loves me, is working all this together for my good, as I leaned on Him and chose to receive His peace in place of my anxious thoughts, His joy instead of my sorrow and frustration…my heart calmed down and I had the power and clarity of mind to do everything I needed to do, with no stress.

This amazing relationship with God makes ALL the difference…but the important question here is, how can you have a relationship with someone you don’t know? The only way to get to know our God is to read His Love Letter to us. It is almost the first desire God put in my heart after I surrendered my life to Him 20 years ago. It is exactly as Charles Spurgeon said, “A Bible that is falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.” Even when circumstances are difficult and don’t change, I change because I know Who is in charge of it all…if I had not made the commitment to read the Bible way back then…well, I hate to think about where I would be right now.

Lesson: Knowing God makes all the difference; even when nothing changes, everything changes…read your Bible!
