Because Jesus was born and given to us, we can live forevermore and begin to sense that Abundant Life here too. Praise God!
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isa 9:6 NIV
Want another amazing truth about learning to live in Christ? None of it is on our tiny shoulders! When this verse says the government will be on His shoulders, it is talking about the fact that He is King and rules over everyone and everything, whether we admit it or not. Now this doesn’t mean He is some kind of tyrant who will not allow us to have our own way, ever. This is the way humans try to rule over one another, but not this amazing King. Jesus watches over us, opens doors for us, redeems some of our foolishness, even without us knowing it, and so on, but He never forces Himself on us. We are given a choice: will we acknowledge His Kingship or not?
If we truly desire a fully satisfying life, then our part is to work with our Lord. We are to come into the Presence of God and learn to live through Him. This means letting go of MMI…no more “I think, I feel I want”! Instead, we must transition to living by what God thinks, feels and wants. As we do this, then the pressure is off of us, and we can simply enjoy life. We will seek His guidance and obey His leading, and the results are up to God. No pressure, see? We do what we know we must do, then we trust our King Who is in charge of how it all works together…for our good…because we love Him…and have been called to His purpose…which is to Love God with all we’ve got and love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Thats Romans 8:28 and Mark 12:30-31, verses that I hold on to that help me remember that my life, in addition to the governing of the whole world, is firmly on His shoulders.
