One last time, check out my disclaimer below…
The truth is doctors are humans who just cannot possibly know everything about everything. YOU need to be your own best advocate and a major part of your healthcare team. So get informed! We do not go to a doctor so he or she can fix us. We go to them for their advice, for their expert opinions…emphasis on OPINIONS…because it is not always truth. And again, we are all different, what works for one person might not work for the next, so use their advice, but do research too.
Doctors are not God, but do we look at them as if they are? Worse yet, do some of them think they are? Those are the ones you have to run away from. Lord knows I had some bad experiences with Beckie with some of these “God Doctors”…they never lasted long and were eliminated from her care team ASAP. Remember we are paying them for a service, to help us get as healthy as possible. Their first oath is to do no harm…but again, they are fallible humans. We, you and I, are responsible for our own bodies, our own lives…and that is why it is vital to make a daily appointment with our Divine Physician.
Know what and why you are putting the chemicals, these medications, into your bodies. Too often when I worked in a pharmacy, patients would not know the name of their meds…which I can almost understand, because generic names are difficult to pronounce… but sadly, they didn’t even know why they were using it! Listen, if you are on meds, and if you are like most people on several types of meds, please carry a list with you. Write the name of the medication, what it is used for, which doctor gave you the Rx, how you use it and when you started it. Whether you put a note in your wallet or on your phone, carry it with you. And as you fix the issues and wean off the meds, cross them off, but leave them on the list so you can remember you once took them…and celebrate the victory of getting off of them too!
But again I will leave you with this because medications can cause devastation to our Microbiome: if you are in crisis, take the medicine, but then find and fix the problem then with your doctor’s help get off of them! Next week, let’s talk about these lifestyle changes that will help you find and fix the real problems…

DISCLAIMER:
I remind you all that I am NOT a doctor…but I am a pharmacist and so, medicines are kind of my forte. But I am not here to diagnose anything, and I am certainly not here to tell you to stop taking your prescriptions…actually the total opposite, hear me: DO NOT STOP your medications without consulting your doctor…but if your doctor is not interested in helping you get off your medications, then perhaps it is time to find another doctor.
