Return Again

Say this powerful verse by heart with me:

Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2Chron 20:15b NIV

It is not our life anymore… not on our own anyway. With Jesus as our King, all we really have to do is follow Him. But like I have said yesterday, we are still children learning how to do this. This is why our spiritual growth is vital! The more mature we become, the more we will know what God would have us do, and the more we will trust Him to help us do it. The Abundant Life that Jesus grants us is a life of constant surrender. To surrender simply means to yield or give up our power and rights to someone else, in this case Someone (capital “S”) Who is eternally higher and mightier than we are.

Growing in Christ is us learning how to stay surrendered. But when we try to take up our lives, again, thinking that we are in charge of our thoughts, emotions and decisions, we get ourselves into trouble, again. Then we must get to the point of surrender, again…and again…and again! The more we grow, the quicker we will return to this surrendered state…and the more peaceful and joyful our lives will get…and hopefully, the lives around us too.

What’s another word for “return”? Repent! As we love God more and more, we will desire to keep a repentant heart, and as we do, life will get more and more abundant. It’s a journey, my Friends, but if you do not know these truths, how can you be set free from that old, defeated way of living with those three enemies who continue to try and make the battle all about us? Return again to Jesus and let Him be your Lord.
