When you build a home, can you start with the walls and roof first? Not if you actually want a livable home, right!? No, we always must start with a solid foundation. Since it is from a Dad and Mom that babies come, then the steady foundation should be a Dad and Mom. If the marriage base is shaky, what happens when we add more humans into the mix? Like a house of cards, things can lose its stability really quick.
So how do we keep the family from coming crashing down? The truth is, “we” cannot! It is God who unites and keeps us on firm ground. We humans are limited, temporary and broken, why do we continue to believe that “we” can have a marriage and family that is infinite, lasting and fully healthy? It is only as we, individually and corporately, choose to follow God’s way, that we move towards more and more stability. Let me remind all of us: it is God’s Order that brings God’s Blessings.
