God will use every situation for our good. And one of the ways He does this is by encouraging us to choose to work with Him, trusting that He is working it all together for a good result. (Ro 8:28) The good result may be that God grants us what our heart has been desiring. The good result may be that we learn to endure a challenging situation in our lives. The good result may even be changing what we thought we really wanted into something that will be a greater blessing to us and those around us, as well as glorifying God. My point is, “the good result” does not always look like what you and I think it should look like. But the more we want what God wants, more than we want what we want, the more we will be living by this, our next “verse to remember.” It is from the Gospel of Matthew chapter 16 verse 24:
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.’” Mt 16:24 NIV
Being a disciple, a follower of Christ, a Christian, is the whole point to becoming born again, right? Not only are we granted the incredible gift of Eternal Life, but we can grow to live the Abundant Life here too. The more we mature in Christ, the more we will desire to be His disciples. And whoever wants to be His disciple…well, start memorizing this verse today and we will continue talking about it tomorrow.
