Let’s say it by heart today:
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Ro 6:23 ESV
Free gift of Eternal Life IN Christ Jesus our Lord. Just one more thing about this in case you haven’t realized it yet, Jesus is BOTH our Savior AND our Lord. Not only does He save us from our old sinful ways, but He has earned the right to tell us how to live our New lives. God created us in His Image, so He wants us to be holy like He is Holy. This means we have to allow Jesus to tell us what to think, feel and want. This is what a Lord does, He rules over His people. And what a gentle King Jesus is. Even though He is firmly on throne, He still allow us to make choices for ourselves. Are we still trying to play a “game of thrones” with Him? Could this be why we are not experiencing this free gift as deeply as we want to?
Let’s do ourselves and everyone around us a favor: surrender our spirit to Jesus, submit our soul to Him, and obey His commands. As we grow in Christ, we will desire this more than anything else in this fallen and temporary world. We are given ETERNAL life. That means it will last forever, and forever is a really long time, my Friends! And it also means there will be no more suffering, no more pain, no more anxiety, no more depression, no more…no more darkness. We can start to taste that kind of life here, now, if we receive this free gift and start leaning on our Lord, to use it more and more.
