We’ve been talking about our Good Shepherd (Jn 10:11 & 14) and as I hinted last week, I’m going to do something a bit different the next couple of weeks as I challenge us to memorize the entire beautiful Psalm 23. There are only 6 verses total so what I will do is give us 2 verses per week, one on Monday and the next on Thursday, then we will bring them all together each Sunday until we have the whole Psalm deep in our hearts.
Please note, even if you think you “simply cannot” learn to quote any of the verses we have been studying this year verbatim, word for word, it is still vital that we followers of Christ at least know the gist of important lines like these. Because, when trouble comes a-knocking, because it will, we can pull out of our heart the verse that will help us defeat the problem, and lead us to the solution. Also let me add, when I began this amazing journey with Jesus almost 22 years ago, I used to be convinced…or I should say the enemy tried to convince me…that I simply could never memorize any Bible verse! After all, who was I to even try, right? Well, let me tell you who WE are: we are children of the Most High God who, not only can commit His wisdom to memory, but we can use it to defeat this prince of darkness too! So let’s start, right now, storing this powerful Psalm…Psalm 23:1…
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Ps 23:1 ESV
Who is our Shepherd? The Lord is. Let’s spend today praising God that His Will, will be done. That includes His children learning to use the power of His Word for the furthering of His Kingdom, as we all reap the benefits.
