With the power and the authority vested in me, I give you the truth of Who and Whose you are:
“You, little children, are from God and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” 1Jn 4:4 BSB
Hi Friends, Diane here. I asked you yesterday, what does a life of the overcomer look like? Does it mean you will never have any problems? Does it mean you will be immediately rid of all the addictions that used to rule over you? Does it mean you will be kind and giving and forgiving to everyone that crosses your path forevermore? Sad to say no, but more powerful yet, it means when these things come- the problems, the temptations, the challenging people- you will be able to lean on God and receive His help in all those situations…and you will be able to keep your peace and joy in the midst of them. You will receive insight on how to resolve the problems…or the strength to endure them. You will be able to say NO to the temptation, and turn to healthy, constructive and productive things instead. You will be able to love the unlovable, and hopefully, move their hearts towards God too. The overcomer overcomes problems, addictions and difficult people. These things may not vanish when we become children of God, but their power over us does.
As I always say, this requires growth. It is only as we allow God to transform us into the Image of Christ that we can overcome anything that comes our way. Glory by glory, the Bible says. That means step by step, decision by decision, we choose to be more like Jesus, and less like that old, MMI person we used to be. Like Jesus, we trust the Father’s Plan. If problems come, we know there is a good purpose for them. Like Jesus, we lean on the Holy Spirit’s help. If temptations come, we turn to Him and say NO, and do the opposite instead. Like Jesus, when those challenging people come, we seek to do the most loving things we can for them…and understand this just might mean tossing some temple tables over. If unlovable people come, we will be able to love them right into the arms of Christ. Then God will do what only He can, soften their hearts and convert them, if they choose to trust Him.
The overcomer overcomes. Today, let this truth guide you towards Jesus, choosing to imitate Him, more and more.
