This Day

This is the day we have. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not guaranteed, so what WILL we do with this day?

“This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Ps 118:24 NLT

Hi Friends, Diane here. One of the first “Jesus shirts” I bought after I became born again simply said, “If God is your co-pilot, switch seats”! We humans are not the drivers of life. We are the passengers…and very blessed to be so! God is the pilot. God is the driver. God is our Sovereign, Loving, Gracious Lord, and He has got everything under control…even when it looks like our lives are being tossed upside down. Question is: do we trust Him?

If we do trust God, then we can choose to rejoice and be glad, no matter what. Now this doesn’t mean we are going to like everything that happens. That would be a whole other type of problem! But what it does mean is that we will choose to remain peaceful in the midst of the challenges. But when we do not know WHO and Whose we are, we can be very tempted to not trust the driver. So I will say it again, God is Sovereign. That means He is in complete and utter control over everything and everyone.

Just like in the Book of Job, not even Satan himself can make a move unless God gives him the ok. And why would God allow him to go about doing evil? For our benefit. Job’s Faith was so grounded, so deep after he went through all his crisis, that nothing and no one could ever make him question God’s Love, ever again. This is certainly part of my story too. Because I became grounded on WHO I am in Christ throughout Beckie’s trials, even when God took her Home, even as my heart still aches for her, I trust Him and His Plan.

Remember this is “University Earth.” We are learning to be WHO we will be for all Eternity. And God uses both our “passes and failures” to help us learn our Forever Identity in Christ. And the more we learn this lesson, the more we can rejoice and be glad in this day.
