We do have a vast army coming against us, but God is greater than all of them, put together! Here’s this powerful verse again:
“Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2Chron 20:15b NIV
We have three enemies to contend with on a daily basis. The first one is the devil and his cohorts. Satan is the father of lies and he is behind every single thing that is evil and corrupt in this world. But remember Jesus already defeated him, so as long as we surrender to Christ as Lord, we too can defeat this enemy. He continuously tries to get us to forget what Jesus has already done on our behalf, don’t let him. It is good to remember the Cross. It is good to focus on the Empty Tomb. And it is powerful to keep the victory of our King at the center of all our thoughts, emotions and decisions. This will move us towards Faith and away from fear.
Our second enemy is the corrupted society that, increasingly desires to take God out of everything. Sadly, the agendas of many groups are getting more and more hostile against God’s Word and ways. The things God says are sinful, these deluded souls are trying to say are good and should be lifted up as standards. It should be no surprise that these lost humans are following the devil, either knowingly, or worse, ignorantly. But as more and more people push their Bibles aside and turn to the world to find it’s version of truth, society, or what the Bible refers to as “the world,” will only get darker and darker…but Jesus came to free us from the world! Even though we still live IN the world, we do not need to act according to the world. Again we can choose to connect with Christ and follow His ways instead.
But here’s the truth: our last enemy is probably the hardest to fight…do you know who it is? Leave a comment below and we will talk about it tomorrow…
