Becoming saved requires we humble ourselves enough to a admit we need The Savior. To receive The Savior requires we have at least a childlike understanding that the Father so loves us, and desires for us to be saved. And once we are saved? Then we must continue to be humble and deepen our understanding of God’s Love as we learn to work with the Holy Spirit to continue the transformation. Salvation is being transformed from death to Life. Sanctification is being transformed from darkness to Light. And all of this begins and ends with God’s Love towards us. This continued rebuilding can only be done with the Holy Spirit.
The Christian Life is one acknowledging the Person of the Holy Spirit. He is our connection to God and Eternal Life. While the Holy Trinity is always present, it helps me to think of the Bible this way: the Old Testament is mostly about the Father. The Gospels are mostly about the Son. Then the Book of Acts and the rest of Scripture is mostly about the Holy Spirit…but how many of us really have a relationship with this Person of the Holy Trinity? This is where the power to live the Abundant Life comes from. Dr Stanley mentions that we settle for Two out of the Three, (p13), but as I hope you have grasped this week, we need the whole Holy Trinity. It is right to speak to God the Father, and lean on God the Son as our Immaculate example of how to live the Abundant Life, but we must also understand we do all of that, and so much more, through God the Holy Spirit.
