Understanding the Truth

Freedom is so very precious. Listen:

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Jn 8:32 NIV

So every time we grow, we deepen our understanding and belief in what God says, instead of what we have been taught to believe about ourselves. It is only God’s Truth, that He loves us, that makes us worthy, makes us good enough, makes us righteous. And as I said yesterday, the more I grow, the deeper this Truth implants into my heart and sets me free from the lies that keep me living the way I used to live when I was apart from Jesus. You see, without our Savior, we are still a sinner whose main focus in everything we think, say and do is MMI. This is our only choice. It is the only way we know how to live because it has been engrained in us since we were born. “Look at you,” our parents coo. “You can win the race if you give it your all,” our coaches say. “Because you have worked so hard, you have what you have, do what you did,” and so on it goes…. YOU must be the center of your life, right, or what’s the point? MMI is what we are taught, so MMI is all we have.

Problem is, if MMI is our only resource, how can we ever be truly free from our sinfulness? MMI is born a sinner, so we cannot be holy on our own. The Bible says even our “righteous” deeds are like filthy rags. (Isa 64:6) You ever try to clean something with a filthy rags? It only gets filthier! Thus the human dilemma. You and I need…no, You and I are desperate for Someone outside of MMI. Someone Who is Immaculate. Someone Who has already made The Way for us to be clean. This truth is the beginning of truly being set free!
