Cascade of Life

Let me point our attention once again to one of my favorite Old Testament verses, Deuteronomy 30:19, where God is talking about choosing life or death, with the corresponding results of blessings or curses. These choices are certainly made in the soul, but they are influenced by something higher and deeper. As with everything God created, there is an order to things, but sadly, we humans tend to get things backwards. We often focus on the results when we really should be concentrating on our beliefs.

Let me introduce to you to something I believe God had me come up with that I call “Cascade of Life.” A cascade is simply a process through which information is passed down from area to area, and this is what I had in mind with this idea. If we truly want to have the Abundant Life God desires for us, then we have to begin making our decisions by thinking about our belief system. Our belief is simply based on our identity. It is who we believe we are, or more importantly, who we believe we belong to. Either we still belong to Self, and we are our own leaders, following our sinful nature, this corrupt world and being influenced by our real enemy. Or we have surrendered our lives to Jesus as Savior and Lord, and we belong to Him forevermore. It is only after we become born again that we can really follow the way of Life, learning to become more and more like the Giver of Life.

So starting with belief, here is the way life is supposed to flow:

Belief

influence

Thoughts

affect

Emotions

inspire

Will

direct

Actions

give

Results

Please do not forget we were made in the Image of God, so we too are a trinity. Here in the Cascade of Life, our belief part corresponds to our spirit; our thoughts, emotions and will are consistent with our soul; and our actions, with its results, coincide with our body. Tomorrow we will focus on the soul as we continue thinking about our mental and emotional health’s affects on our nutrition.
