Every time I fly off the handle, this is the lesson God has taught me to remember:
Child, you cannot control others and you cannot control every situation, but you can ALWAYS control yourself!
The Fruit of the Spirit, found in Gal 5:22-23, does not speak about others control. It does not grant us situation control. But it does offer us the incredible gift of SELF-control!
But if my perspective, my eyes, are focused on MMI instead of my beautiful union with the Holy Spirit, I cannot access, nor do I even think of accessing to be completely honest, this powerful gift of the Fruit. So instead of exercising SELF-control, I try to control the choices of others. And when they refuse to agree, I go into a major hissy fit!
See? Again, I am NOT saying their choices are ok- they’re not- but it is less ok for me, a born again Christian, to not control myself. As a believer and follower of Christ, I am not supposed to REACT. Instead, I’m supposed to do what Jesus did. Yes, it is to love, but His Love causes us to do the opposite of reacting…more tomorrow…
