He Always Cares

Here’s another two very different words I want us to think about: catering versus caring. A couple of weeks ago, I was in a bad spot, just feeling all negative and focusing on my struggles and challenges. Right in the middle of church service, the Pastor was preaching his heart out, reminding all of us how much God cares about us, when I began complaining to the Holy Spirit. I moaned, “It sure doesn’t feel like You care about me at all, Lord! There are so many things that have happened in my life that have broken my heart. I wanted one thing, but You gave me the complete opposite!” I quickly became convicted in my heart when I sensed Him say to me, “Child, I always care for you, but I do not always cater to you.” WOW! That stopped me right in my tracks! As I prayed for His forgiveness, I understood the lesson He was teaching me loud and clear.

The truth is, God loves us way too much to cater to our every whim and request. He knows what is best for us since He sees our entire life, not just the tiny picture we dimly think we see. He will always give us what we need, because that is what will keep us growing into His Image. It is what will truly give us the peace and joy we long for. And it is what will empower us to love Him with all we’ve got, and love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Catering to us will only lead us into further Pride and selfishness. Because God always cares for us, whatever will lead us deeper into Love, is what He will allow.

Words, they are so very important! As we pray to our Loving Father, let’s pay attention to the words we are using. And let’s understand that God will never condemn us. He will never oppress us. He will never demand anything from us. And He won’t always cater to us either. Please see this as God’s Love and respect for His children. I pray you sense that today…

  1. I’m sorry you have been going through these trials you have been for so long. Life gets discouraging. It’s tough to follow God’s lead when things don’t go the way we envisioned them or when life takes a bad turn that we have never could have expected. But, as you already know, God’s plan and purpose are greater than our understanding. But that “never” discounts our grieving souls. I will keep you in my prayers for strength and new beginnings!

Thank you for the reminder that God doesn’t do those things to us. This entry I will share with my network.

    Love you sister,
    Michele
