It’s Really a Spirit Thing

Too often when we think about mental and emotional health, we focus on our soul. But the truth is, these conditions are really a spirit issue. As I showed you last week with the “Cascade of Life,” everything has its foundation on our beliefs. Whether it is our soul health or our actions or even our results, they are all controlled by WHO we think we are.

For example, if I believe I AM depressed, then I should not be surprised when my thoughts are negative, when my emotions are downcast, and when my will is to do nothing, because I have no motivation to live my life to the full, since I AM depressed. This will lead me to do the wrong things that will end up with me experiencing a bad day.

But if instead, I connect with God and remember I am His Child, that He loves me and desires me to have peace and joy, no matter what. Then even when I may experience the symptoms of depression, since my thoughts are influenced by my identity in Christ, they can quickly turn to verses like Philippians 4:13 where it says, “I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me!” Then my emotions get uplifted and my will no longer centers on me, but I become motivated to fulfill God’s calling on my life. Talk about a complete different result! I will have a very good day indeed…and it all starts with my spirit, who, or more importantly Whose, I believe I am.

Life or death, the way we go through life, our perspective on events, how we interact with others, and so on, all start in our spirit. Turn to God today and learn who HE says you are. Then let His Love transform you, your soul, your actions, and your very life!
