Another way to de-stress our days is to leave margins in our day. We all know that, when we write anything, we leave those areas on either side of our paper so that everything looks neat and organized. But if we have to add notes, or more information, we have those margins on either side where we can fill in that information. That’s kind of the same idea with leaving margins in our day for any unexpected things that may occur.
For instance, if you live 25 minutes from your job, do you leave exactly 25 minutes before you have to get there? That is not living with margins. Instead, we should give ourselves an extra 10-15 minutes just incase there is traffic, an accident, a detour or any other number of things. And for those who are asking, “But what if I do not encounter any obstacle and I get to work too early?” Well, isn’t that a great time to pray? To get your thoughts in order? To plan your agenda for the day? I am sure you can find all sorts of productive things to do with that “extra” time, and you won’t feel rushed…more on that tomorrow.
If we want to sleep better at night, then we need to pay attention to all the things that can stress us out in the day and getting to wherever we are getting to LATE, can be a really big stressor, so eliminate that by leaving margins in your day.
