Knowing where we currently are because God’s Word is the Lamp to our feet, we can begin to look out farther into our future too.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Ps 119:105 ESV
If we think of the Lamp as illuminating our current life, the Light then helps us see more of the path ahead of us too. While the Bible can show us clearly where we are right now, Scripture also helps us have assurances of where we are going. As I said yesterday, we only need to see one step at at time as we walk this life- that is what walking by Faith is all about- but we can do this because we know the end of our life too. The Bible gives us Hope for our future, not only in this world of course, but for our Eternal future too. God’s Word promises to grant us the Everlasting Life if we have sincerely placed our Faith in Jesus. Because of what our Savior has done for us, we can look forward to Paradise when our time here is done.
In the meantime, we can have confidence in this life too. For one thing, God is with us, so we never have to go through anything alone. When we need wisdom, direction, insight, all we have to do is pray and trust God to respond. God will either take care of any problems we face, or He will give us the proper resources, at the proper time, to endure whatever it is we are going through. The Bible teaches us that this is God’s Character: to never leave nor forsake His children. This is the Light that helps us see we can remain at peace, and live with great joy, no matter what is going on along our path.
