No more fighting in our own strength! Hear this verse again, deeper today:
“Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2Chron 20:15b NIV
So what does it mean that the battle is not yours, but God’s? I mean, you and I are the ones who have to deal with whatever battle we are facing, right? Well, this, exactly, is our problem and the wrong way to view anything we go through in life: the good, the bad and the ugly. We were never meant to go through any of it alone, on our own, apart from God. This is why the tough things are so very tough! And to be honest, this is also why the good things are not as good as they can be!
We continue to try to live on our own after we have already surrendered our lives to Jesus as Savior and Lord. This mentality simply does not align itself with the reality that we are now one with Christ. We now belong to Him and must live in unity with Him. So we have to ask ourselves who is “the lord” of our lives? Because that is “the lord” that will be in control over us. If it is still MMI, then we will not have the victories we should have…remember MMI is an enemy, not our friend!
If Jesus is our Lord, then He is supposed to rule over our heart and soul. This means only He gets to determine our attitudes, only He gets to tell us what to think, feel and want. Then as we allow Jesus to lead us within, we will naturally act the way He would…then we are able to fight every battle and win, just like He did. Our Lord continues to fight and win every battle along the way with, in and through us as we follow His lead. Since God is the only Omniscient One, we need to live surrendered to His Will so we will obey Him…but we are children so when we forget this…we’ll, we will wrap it up tomorrow
